4S - Springs, Scenery, Sharing, Steaks

The Hot Mineral Springs in Pagosa Springs, Colorado.

Every pool has a different temperature.  We went to the elite member only section in the upper right!  Aren't we just hoity toity!  Actually, she gave us many perks because it was Alan's birthday!

Check out the different colors on the rock from the fountain.  There is 18 different minerals in these waters!

It's a little Spa city!

Many different Native American tribes fought over the ownership of the springs.  I can see why.......not only are the minerals suppose to be good for you but we glowed in the dark for hours afterward!!

Chimney Rock.
The cloud over the chimney actually looks like smoke coming out of the chimney.

So pretty!

The view from our friends, Buddy and Brenda, back porch.  It was smokey from the fires but you can see for miles and miles and miles!

Oh what a view to wake up to everyday!

The birthday boy..............50 years young!
Steak dinner was his wish!

Oh he has it rough...........the Boss Hogg girls singing to the birthday boy!

Shake, Rattle & Roll

Let the Jeeping begin!!!!

Pretty high up and the view is gorgeous!

Yes he crossed the creek to stand on that tree.  He is quite daring!

All you can hear is the sound of water flowing!

Going in!

Ya never know how deep it is.

Is the water SUPPOSE to be inside the jeep?

Notice how rocky, narrow and uphill this is,   oh but wait...................

It gets even rockier, and much steeper,  Alan is driving and Gigi is hanging on with BOTH hands!

At the top of the mountain, the clouds are so close you feel like you can reach up and touch them.

The Aspens are just beautiful and the only sound is the leaves blowing in the wind.

Just like in the old western's, the cows roam all over the mountain and these cows were blocking the road.  Let me just say that they are mighty big when you are up close and personal and trying to drive through the herd!  Yeek!

Who needs Home Depot?  This is a fence and yes indeedy we had to open it and the sign says "please close gate"  Ah .....the simple things in life!

What can you say....................miles and miles of beauty.

Met some cowboys..........Nice people!

From top to bottom.....the landscape is so different.

We survived the Jeep ride and even the adventure seeking, rough rider thought it was a rather rigorous ride!!  If I (Gigi) could loose one pound for every time I said "Ohhhhhh shit", I would simply be skin and bones when I return!  LOL

Grant to South Park to Pagosa Springs, Colorado

Leaving the Bates Motel Grant Motel, south to none other than Fairplay, Colorado, home of South Park!

The scenery is breathtaking,  every where you look is picturesque.

Most of the homes have these archways at the beginning of their driveways.  It seems to be a competition.........who has the bigger, better, most elaborate archway!  Very interesting.

Anyone who has watched South Park knows this sign!

Pretty cool little town!   Oh noooooooooooo, it"s Mr. Hankey, the Christmas Poo!

The trip begins

Leaving Gainesville early Wednesday morning.  On to the Rocky Mountains and leaving TS Debbie behind!

As you can see this is a itty bitty plane and OMG are they reading the manual?

That prop looks fine........................Oh no its the other one that died!  Yeek!  Back to Gainesville for an emergency landing..................Fire trucks and ambulances to meet us!  The pilot was awesome and landed without incident.  Thank God he read that manual!

Many hours later we are on the plane in Orlando ready to take off!  3 1/2 hours later we are soooooooooo close to Denver.............but wait.............there is a storm and we can't land.  Well, lets circle until we can land...........nope,  not enough fuel.................lets go to Albuquerque!

Many, many, many hours later we have landed, we have our bags, we have our rental car and we are beyond T I R E D!   But wait.............NO rooms any where in the mile high city!  None, zilch, notta,  we tried them all!  Evacuees from the wildfires.............ok then lets start driving.........

24 hours after we left Gainesville we find............  The Grant Motel..............kinda looks like the Bates motel in Psycho!  However, it wasn't bad at all.

Any place with a liquor store right in the middle of the parking lot cannot be all bad, right?

Ahhh,  now this is what we are talking about...................let the vacation begin!
